RED Gala, entering its fourth year, has raised more than $100,000 and awarded scholarships to six Nebraska high school graduates to assist them in realizing their educational dreams.  Created through the combined efforts of the Nebraska Alumni Association, UNL administration, alumni and friends, the RED Gala provides additional scholarship dollars to keep the best and brightest in our state. At least 50 percent of the proceeds fund university scholarships for Omaha-area high school students, with the rest earmarked for other high-achieving students from the state of Nebraska.

The 2008 event will be held on Friday, January 18 at the Hilton Hotel in Omaha.  Guests will experience a fine dining experience, presentation of the Founders’ Medallion Award to Tom Osborne in addition to awards to Omaha educators and business leaders who have been faithful supporters of UNL and recognition of the RED Scholars for 2008.  Most importantly, guests will have the opportunity to bid on a diverse selection of live and silent auction items to fund the RED Gala scholarships.
