How to start a Nebraska Alumni Chapter
To start a chapter, first contact the Nebraska Alumni Association at 1-888-353-1874. The Director of Chapter Relations will work with you to potentially start a new chapter.
Individuals requesting to start a chapter must be an UNL graduate and/or member of the Nebraska Alumni Association. A non-UNL graduate can join the Association to be eligible. If the Association deems the area desirable, then an interest survey will be mailed to local alumni and a future organizational meeting will be scheduled to select leadership officers and committees. The group will be chartered by the Association upon fulfilling all necessary requirements.
Upon contacting the Director of Chapter Relations you will asked the following:
- Provide name/address/city/state/zip/email address
- Are you a member of the Nebraska Alumni Association?
- You will be asked to sign and date a “Records Release Policy” statement
- You will be asked to help define the geographic area to use for the chapter (typically area is defined as a 50-mile radius around chapter’s major community)
- You will be asked to establish a tentative name for the chapter
Planning materials will be mailed
out to you and the process of creating a new chapter will begin.
